About Dawna

Hi, I’m Dawna, the hands behind Dawna Marquette Jewelry.

I make one-of-a-kind jewelry in my home studio south of Ottawa, near Winchester, Ontario. I love working with sterling silver, colourful stones and mixed metals, and seeing where an idea takes me.

I fell into making jewelry quite by accident in 2008. I walked into a store looking for stones for a glass project I was working on, and instantly fell in love with all the colourful beads, the metal and the possibilities. I went in for one project and came out with a whole new passion!

I ran my hair studio for 22 years, and loved it, but when the pandemic happened, I closed my studio and decided to make jewelry my full-time work. After so many years working with colour as a hairstylist, it’s probably no surprise that I’m drawn to beautiful stones and the different ways colours and metals work together.

Each piece is made by me, one at a time. I love adding texture, combining silver with copper and brass, and including little details or meaningful words that make a piece feel personal. Sometimes I start with a plan, and sometimes the design changes as I work. That’s part of what I love about it.

Outside of my studio, my husband and I are the parents of two grown sons. I also volunteer as the Area Leader for Backstage Hospitality at Ottawa Bluesfest and CityFolk. It’s a busy role that brings me together with a wonderful group of volunteers, and it’s a part of my life that means a lot to me.

You can also find my jewelry at The Makers Hub in Winchester. I love being part of a community of artists who share ideas, work together and support each other. Working on your own makes those connections all the more special.

Thank you for being here and taking an interest in what I make. Whether you’ve purchased a piece, shared my work or stopped by for a look, I appreciate your support. It allows me to keep doing something I love.

From my hands to yours,
Dawna
